IK HEB JE (CLIP)

Thursday, August 20th 2009

As I'm typing this I'm listening to Jiggy Djé's NPS Kunststof interview (click HERE to tune in). Jiggens' 3rd videoclip for his 'De Ark De Triomf' album is now roaming the web. You could already see the SirOJ produced 'Superster' and 'Superster Remix' ft. Winne. Well, now the good fellas of Opslaan Als hooked you up with a visual experience of Jiggy's 'Ik Heb Je' ft. Pete Philly (produced by FS Green). I was blessed to enjoy the good weather, and the celebration of making this video on the island of Texel. If you can't tell we all had a lot of fun during the shoot. Click HERE to see the video. Be sure to vote for De Ark De Triomf HERE. A 3voor12 Award would be a good look, ya get me? Another good look is ArkBoyTV: De Art De Triomf episode pt. 2. Peep that HERE. Oh and the other 'Jig' has a new video as well. Check Jay-Z ft. KanYe West & Rihanna - 'Run This Town' HERE. Jay's 'Blueprint III' tracklist looks promising by the way.

NEDLY ELSTAK

Sunday, August 16th 2009

"Nedly Elstak is one of those musicians, active in the Dutch jazz scene in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, who is now almost forgotten. Almost, because Jazz music is no longer a hot item and only few listeners or musicians, will remember his great trumpet playing, but thanks to a great compilation record, released by the Dutch Jazz Archive (NJA 0102) some years ago, his musical heritage is available for everybody who is anxious to learn how he sounded. Nedly Elstak was born in Semarang, on the isle of Java, part of the former Dutch Indies, now Indonesia January 1931. He left the Far East (seen with European eyes) in 1936 to settle in The Netherlands. He started to play the trumpet, when he was a young adult. He also learned to play the piano. He became active in the Amsterdam Jazz scene early 1950s. During the 1970s he had a club in Amsterdam named De Masjien (= The Machine). Later he stopped playing the trumpet and concentrated almost entirely to the piano. On the NJA record, simply labelled Nedly Elstak - Trumpeter he plays the piano on three tracks." - Hans Koert. Big up to MCN for hooking me up with the compilation cd of Nedly Elstak. Heritage!

FLIRTWITU

Thursday, July 23rd 2009

After careful craftin' and craftin' and craftin' and craftin' some more, DJ slash producer and sound designer Narek Nikogosian a.k.a. BANA3000 a.k.a. Full Crate a.k.a. The Artist Formerly Known As DJ Double N finally unleashed his long-awaited 'Flirtwitu' track featuring singer Mar a.k.a. Jamiroquai Jr. ;-) and U.S. MC Versis. Crate asked me to add my touch to their song with some Elstak artwork. I remembered a small painting I did which fit perfectly with the track after I heard it. I mailed it to him and the rest is history. I'm very pleased with the total package. Be sure to download the track HERE. I also expect more Crate and Mar tracks hitting the web soon. Who knows... They might even hit you up with some vinyl projects in the near future. And I can't wait till you hear the duet Joya and Mar made on a Full Crate beat for the soon to be released 'Hard Melk' project. Exhilarating!

BEST I EVER HAD

Tuesday, July 21st 2009

Superproducer FS Green made another amazing remix. This time he decided to take a stab at Drizzy Drake's hit single, 'Best I Ever Had'. Download this special Amsterdam FS Green Remix HERE at Nalden's or at FS' own tight new website iamfsgreen.net (designed and built by the kid IKSI). FS sent me the remix in advance and I reached out to him to do the artwork. The artwork was inspired by the KanYe West directed videoclip for the original version of 'Best I Ever Had'. If you haven't seen the video yet. Click HERE to see the director's cut. Word is Drake is now signed to Lil' Wayne's Young Money Entertainment. And he should currently be working on his debut album 'Thank Me Later'. If I was him, I'd reach out to Green for some Amsterdam magic for his debut. That would be a good look on his part. More FS Green? Swing by the Oosterpark in Amsterdam on August 2nd, for the legendary Appelsap festival. Young brother Green is spinning heat there.

WINNE VS BRIAN

Thursday, June 25th 2009

Rotterdam rap colossus Winston Bergwijn - better known to most as MC Winne - and I made a bet on June 11th 2009. He had just massacred the crowd at the Amsterdam Paradiso venue with his Kazerne crew. He even brought out Jiggy Djé to do their remix of Jiggy's 'Superster' track (click HERE for the video). Highlight moment of the night hands down was when Akwasi (congrats met je propedeuse broeder!), Leeroy and HayZee of Zwart Licht rocked their set. They were by far the best act of the night. Best believe that! Watch the proof HERE. But back to the bet with Winne. The deal is that we both get in the best shape ever to face off for the Men's Health cover. Now we both know that they will most likely never ever EVER put one of us on the cover, but the bet is still on though! Root for the underdog, and yes! That would be me! Haha... The results will be in on the 11th of December 2009. Stay tuned! Stay toned!

JCVD NAKSUKAU

Friday, May 15th 2009

Action hero Jean Claude van Damme did a lot of movies. Most of them kinda sucked. But as I was growing up, me and my boys digged a big bunch of his cinematic adventures. Like 'Kickboxer' (1989). The way Van Damme trained and fought his way towards the villain, Tong Po was just dope. Like in most movies of this magnitude, the hero had to avenge his brother, father, sister, cousin or cat. In this case his brother. While fighting his way to the End Boss, crowds start yelling: "Nak Su Kau! Nak Su Kau!" in a "Ali Bumayé!" type fashion. When Van Damme's character asked what it meant, the reply was: "white warrior" or something similar. Me and my brother Giuseppe du Crocq have been working on a Van Damme tribute shirt for a while now. Suddenly we finally had it! And so can you! Check our MC label at the 'brands' department, right HERE @ Freshcotton.com.

Tell a friend. Do a back flip. Run to the stores. Download through iTunes. Throw your Ark signs up! Holler si vous plaît AUMPHF! The long awaited De Ark De Triomf album of Jiggy Djé is in stores tomorrow. The well produced, razor Ramon flow album is a Dutch hip hop piece of art. Don't sleep! Or do, and look back later to then realize how fly this masterpiece of a triumphant record this is. De Ark De Triomf brings fun back into the game. If you check out the first 3 episodes of ArkBoyTV, you'll see that Jiggens and them are actually having fun in the studio. Real genuine FUN. Without sounding too mushy mushy, I think this here album is made with love, on love and for the love to showcase love. Check out ArkBoyTV nr. 5 HERE. "It's a celebration bitches!" - Rick James.

JFK MAGAZINE

Thursday, April 9th 2009

My paintings for Jiggy Djé's upcoming album are getting a lot of media love. Omar Kbiri interviewed me for his site. My Zwart Licht videos have been well received. With that said I'd like to thank the good folks at MC, Noah's Ark & TopNotch for all these great opportunities. Respect to Joey Elgersma & Daniel J. Ashes for getting me to look impeccable in issue 13 of JFK magazine. The item I'm in also features my brother Nasrdin Dchar, Faberyayo of Le Le and your girlfriend's best friend Jim Aasgier. The issue also has Victoria Koblenko looking steamy, plus a dope interview with one of my favourite actors, Vincent Cassel. Also cool was seeing me and Jiggy both receiving kudos separately in REVU this week. He got them for his album and I got them for my Bliksemschicht vid.
